Haroa of North 24 Parganas was an under-developed and backward area three decades ago. The area was backward from health, education and bad condition of roads and transportation. Most of populous are from minority community and they were backward from everything. Kalikapur was one the worst village regarding this.
The people believed on various superstitious and were always engaged different types of unsocial works. The social tie-up between man to man was torn. The social environment was very miserable. In this situation our General Secretary Maulana Abdus Samad sb. came to this village Kalikapur as an Imam of village Masjid. By observing such pathetic situation he was hurt severely and thought how to develop the situation.
He observed that most of the children of village did to go to school. They always wandered here and there and engaged in various unhealthy things. He thought proper Islamic education could change the atmosphere. So he established a maktab with some children of the village taught Islamic education and culture. Slowly the situation began to change. People noticed the benefits of maktab.
Then he established a madrasah named “Madrasah Darul Uloom Kalikapur” with two more teachers and some students from surrounding areas in 1983. With his earnest desire and attempts the madrash began to grow rapidly and the number of students has been increasing every year.
Now the madrasah has developed to an Islamic University and noted as ‘Haroa Al-Jamiatul Islamia Darul Ulook Kalikapur’ and one of largest Islamic university of West Bengal, Alhamdulillah. Presently 1307 students from Arbi Awal to Dawrah Hadith Shareef have been studying under the guidance of highly qualified and devoted team of 115 teaching and non-teaching staff. All the students and staff are residents. They are provided lodging, fooding and education free of cost.
Most of the students have come from poor and helpless families. They are taught high quality Islamic education with basic general education. They will be real and honest citizens of India and will serve the nation in future.
Thus the madrasha has been working as maker of the nation. Huge amount of money is required to run the madrasah. But there is no source of income. Apart from there are a lot of things yet to be done.
The proposed attempts are:
- To build a Water Tank of 100000 Litres to facilitate pure and safe drinking water
- To build Boundary Wall for the safety and security of the Institution
- To Make Pitched/ Brick road inside of the society
- To build a series of Toilets for better sanitary system
- To arrange computer education for the students of the madrasah
- To set up a Library for the students
- To make drain inside and outside of the madrasah for better drainage system

We have been conducting orphanage for more than a decade with a goal to bring the orphan and distressed boys into the mainstream. We all know the miserable condition of the parent-less orphan boys of the society. They are usually neglected by other family members.
Being hurt by the miserable condition of the orphan boys and inspired by the Message of Hazrat Mohammad (PBH ) we took the initiative to establish the Orphanage. We have gathered such orphan boys form different parts of the districts and from entire Bengal. Presently 210 orphan and distressed boys are reared in this orphan hostel and taught Islamic education with Bangla, English, and Mathematics etc. under the guidance of devoted and residential teachers and staffs.
They are provided with free lodging and Fooding, daily necessities and educational goods i.e. toothpaste, brush, clothes, books, exercise books, pen, pencil etc totally free of cost. Thus we are trying to bring them to the mainstream of the society. Huge amount of fund is needed to maintain these services.
Monthly expenses for an orphan boy is about Rs. 2500/-. Is there any kind hearted brother or sister in our society who will take the responsibility of an orphan boy? Come forward and join us to fulfill this noble mission.
If all kind-hearted and benevolent people take the responsibility of one orphan boy, it will become much easier to run the service.

One of important wings of Tahiria Welfare Trust is Millat Girls’ School. We started the school with a goal to spread women education with proper Islamic culture among girls of minority community and establish them at a high position in the society.
Haroa is an under developed area which is minority dominated area of West Bengal. The area is still backward from the perspective of education and transportation system. It is observed that the girls of the remote areas, especially of minority family drop school after few years due to poverty. Sometimes they are forced into marriage by their parents. Then they have to go to their in-law’s house. Thus many meritorious students are lost from the mainstream of education.
This condition is painful. In these circumstances, we planned to set up a Girls’ school to educate them with high level of education so that they can stand with a position in the society. According to the plan we established Millat Girls’ School at Pillkhana under the Haroa Police Station in 2008. You will be pleased to know that 373 residential girls from class V to XII with Arts & Science sections are being taught according to the Government syllabus under the guidance of devoted female teachers.
The school has been running in English and Bengali medium with compulsory Islamic education. In spite of different kind of difficulties, the results of students are very satisfactory, Alhamdulillah. Some of our students are now studying in higher course with high marks.
Considering the condition of the community the charges has been kept much lower than other organizations. To develop the girls of minority community with education in Islamic culture and education, the institution has been playing a remarkable role.
The institution is developing its course structure and educational system very rapidly. The institution is already started Science Section in Higher Secondary Level. Lot of things are yet to be arranged.
Although, The following Arrangement is urgently needed:
- Four Laboratories for Science Section worth Rs. 8,00,000/-
- Construction of Prayer Hall/Namaz Khana
- Library
- Twenty Nos of Computer for starting Computer Education

Ongoing project of TAHIRIA WELFARE TRUST
TWT has taken an initiative to bring people to the path of light form blindness by undertaking this Free Eye Operation Project for 1000 patients. In this project the trust has been performing free Eye Operation of poor and distressed brothers and sisters of the society with the help of Ummah Welfare Trust.
Alhamdulillah, we completed more than 700 operations successfully by noted Eye Surgeons of Tahiria Hospital. There are many helpless sisters and brothers in the society who are suffering from cataract and are going to be blind. Most of them have no ability to undergo eye operations due to lack of money. In this situation the project of the trust at least can bring them in the world of light.
So, it is a great success from social point of view. We want to continue the project for a healthier and happier world.
Budget for a cataract operation is Rs. 5000/-.

We know that the rich are the representatives of the poor and needy person in our society. So, we have a social duty to uplift the poor and helpless widows as well as orphans so that they are able to improve themselves and amalgamate with the main stream of the society.
